Description
Easy balancing
With the azimuth axle being vertical there is only the altitude axle to balance on Track The Stars Mounts. The counterweight can easily be positioned and fixed on the counterweight arms. Just release the altitude clutch and feel the balance and adjust the counterweight position.
Balancing extra equipment
If you install a piggyback camera or guide telescope it’s very easy to balance again just by lowering the counterweights. No need for extra tube mounted counterweight as needed on German Equatorial Mounts.
Counterweight selection table TTS-160
Telescope | 4kg Counterweights | 8kg Counterweights |
---|---|---|
Refractor <120mm aperture | X | (X) |
Refractor >120mm aperture | X | |
SCT telescope 6", 8", 9.25" | X | (X) |
SCT telescope 10", 11", 12" | X | |
Newtonian <200 mm aperture | X | (X) |
Newtonian >200mm aperture | X |
Note: Adding cameras, filter wheel, guide scope etc. will demand heavier counterweights to balance the setup, than what is suggested in the above table.
